Ville-Marie is an upscale neighbourhood situated in the center of Montreal. Therefore, this place gathers the main tourist attractions of the city but also the major malls, companies' headquarters and even the historical center.
Ville-Marie was the name of the first settlement created in 1642 which developed the city of Montreal.
The district keeps welcoming new inhabitants, mainly from China and France, which made it becoming even more multicultural. Ville-Marie has a dynamic, attractive and vibrant life.

After a decrease between 2011 and 2014, the real-estate market has risen by 5% regarding the number of properties sold in Montreal in 2016. Thousands of condos have been built in the region of Montreal these last years and many of them are still unoccupied and still on the housing market. According to real-estate experts, 2017 would be characterized by a slowing down of sells due to new mortgage loan measures. However, the growth of the employment market and the low unemployment rate should boost property sells.

However, it is an incredible experience to visit Montreal under the snow as it lights from lots of colors during the Christmas and New Year's Eve period. From April to October, the weather conditions are more pleasurable, with a mildness climate. In autumn, Montreal is a postcard landscape with magnificent colours and perfectly represents what the Indian summer is.  The city has a tremendous life during important events such as Halloween or Thanksgiving.

From June to September, you will enjoy the hottest temperatures, with a clear blue sky. This is the period of the year chosen by most of foreign tourists to visit Montreal. Therefore, with a important affluence, prices are at their highest, regarding air transport and accommodation. However, you will experience international events such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the "Juste pour Rire" Festival as well as the African Nights and lots of other cultural events.

The Quartier des Spectacles

Quartier des Spectacles is the center of the cultural metropolis, after more than one hundred years of a tradition of shows in Downtown Montreal. Over one square kilometer, this area offers more than 80 places of cultural diffusion, including 30 performance halls with 28 000 seats. The cultural offer is particularly diversified with a countless number of outdoor and indoor artistic events, in the frame of large international events and festivals, such as Francofolies or the International Jazz Festival.
In 2009, the Government and the city of Montreal have invested more than 140 million dollars to convert the public space of Quartier des Spectacles.

Notre-Dame Basilica

Notre-Dame Basilica was created in 1672 and it was the first church of the city. But in the 19th century, it became too small and the Notre-Dame Basilica was built as we know it today, in a Neo-Gothic style. This is only in 1982 that the Pope Jean-Paul II choose to consider this church as a basilica, which was a historical symbol. This is one of the most beautiful religious monuments in Quebec and a true religious art gallery. It has an unprecedented rich heritage. The surrounding area is a nice place for a late night romantic stroll.

Bonsecours Market

This is an architectural building with 15 little artisanal shops inside, featuring top-quality “made in Québec” creations (crafts, fashions, accessories and jewellery, design items). The monument was built in 1844 and is one of Canada's ten finest heritage buildings. Bonsecours market has become an essential stop on any visit to Old Montréal. Open seven days a week starting at 10 a.m.
