Viterbo

Viterbo is a town located 80km north of Rome. The city is characterized by a landscape of volcanic origin; The two lakes which surround it are enfeebled by ancient craters of volcanoes, now extinct. This historical city has preserved its appearance of the XIII century, therefore, by discovering it, one has the impression of making a trip in the past. In the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, Viterbo played a very important role. As the city of Rome struggled against chaos, Viterbo became the refuge of the popes.
