Covent Garden is a district of Westminster, in Greater London, situated on the eastern fringes of the West End. It was named in reference of the Abbey of Westminster as the land belonged to the monument and was used as a vegetable garden before becoming a market place. Nevertheless, as London attracts many tourists during this period of the year, you will have to foresee a travel budget more substantial and a longer time spent in queuing.

St Paul's Church

Known as the "Actor's Church" because of its long association with the theater community, the beautiful St Paul's Church was built in 1633 by Inigo Jones in the heart of theaterland. Benches in the splendid churchyard make it a popular and peaceful spot for families, friends and travelers to enjoy a quiet moment during a summer break. It's a welcome refuge of tranquility away from the busy streets of Covent Garden. In addition to worships and mass services, the landmark regularly welcomes concerts as well as literary and theatrical events.

Covent Garden Piazza

The Covent Garden Piazza is the most attractive covered market in London, which nowadays offers novelty items. However, since 1974, it has been London's fruits and vegetables wholesale market which welcomed shoppers among the quaint old arcades. The fruit and vegetable market has now moved to the New Covent Garden Flower Market in Bermondsey. Walk through the eclectic market stalls of the Piazza, visitors will find everything they need among a large variety of quality goods: antiques, craft items, pictures and handmade clothing.

Theater Royal Drury Lane

Built in 1812, this magnificent theater is the oldest one in Drury Lane. It perfectly succeeded in keeping its charm and elegance. This historic theater has host some of Covent Garden's biggest and most elaborate productions, from the 1946 London debut of Oklahoma to the decade-long success of Miss Saigon and the premiere of the San Mendes-directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was upon its stage of the actress and royal mistress Nell Gwyn first caught the eye of King Charles II.
