Vauxhall is a commercial and residential district located in southwest London, in the London Borough of Lambeth. Near the Thames, this former industrial area has been undergoing a massive change in the recent years and new well-off contemporary properties with private fitness rooms and chic modern apartments in splendid residential buildings stand alongside gorgeous Victorian houses and typical mansions from the 1970s. The urban district of Vauxhall is famous for its elegant parks, its bustling nightlife as well as its friendly markets.

The summer season of July and August is the most crowded one but it is a better guarantee of good weather conditions. Besides, there are various events which are organized during summer, such as the Championship Wimbledon. Nevertheless, as London attracts many tourists during this period of the year, you will have to foresee a travel budget more substantial and a longer time spent in queuing.

The Kia Oval Cricket Ground

Usually referred as "The Oval", it is the headquarters of the Surrey Country Cricket Club. This famous stadium has undergone a massive redevelopment few years ago: now it has a curved roof, including air terraces and a living screen running around the façade and it can welcome 23,000 visitors. The Oval is often the venue of the last Test match of the English summer. The stadium was originally a football ground before giving away to cricket and the first ever FA Cup Final was played there back in 1872. Therefore, The Oval is one of the two sports ground to have staged both England Football and Cricket internationals.

Vauxhall City Farm

Away from the hustling and bustling city life, visitors can escape to the countryside within London thanks to a little city farm situated on Tyers Street. It is home to sheep, pigs, rabbits, alpacas among others, kids and families will be glad to discover the various animal species. The area also has a herb garden and a riding center which can provide horse riding lessons.

Tate Britain

Considered as one of London's finest galleries, the Tate Britain is home of British art from 1,500 to today and offers art works from world-renowned artists such as William Blake, Sir John Everett Milais or even Franciss Bacon. Hosted in the former Millbank Prison, this gallery also proposes regular art exhibitions. Visits after work are possible thanks to Tate Lates evenings.
