Locally nicknamed "WeHo", the tiny city of West Hollywood has been an incorporated municipality since 1984. Before this date, the former place, called Cityhood, has been selected by a coalition of LGBT activists to be an unprecedent place with progressive policies and strong rights protections. For more than thirty years, this small city has been having great impact on the national progressive public policy agenda. Thanks to its creativity and its fresh new ideas, West Hollywood has adquired a singular status that made it a city like no other in the world. It became an iconic destination for community activists and for curious visitors who wish to experience an unique place.
