Phuket

Phuket is the largest island of Thailand and is nowadays considered as one of the most attractive tropical seaside resorts in the world. This jewel of the Indian ocean spreads over 50 kilometers from north to south. Its northern end is linked with the continent thanks to a 600m-long bridge, called the bridge of the Saracens.The main wealths of the island are tourism -as it attracts more than 3 million tourists every year-, its rubber plantations, coconut and fishing. After Bangkok, Phuket is the richest region of Thailand and it enjoys a very diversified population as it welcomes Thais, Chinese, Malays, Europeans and Indians, among others.This dramatic place became famous in the 1970s due to the arrival of hippies, and its attractiveness was also favoured in the following decade thanks to the "sunshine in winter" trend. Today, Phuket remains an appealing destination for tourists who wish to enjoy relaxed beaches,  isolated little bays and majestic landscapes, that create a true paradise. Its hills are covered with lush forests that goes down to the white sandy beaches that run along an emerald sea. The coral reefs are treasures that are worth admiring while snorkelling. Branded the "pearl of the Andaman", this is Thailand's original flavour of sun, authenticity and luxury.
