The Duomo

The Duomo constitutes the symbol of Milan. This Gothic Cathedral originally named "St Mary of the Nativity" is commonly known as "the Duomo". It is the third largest cathedral in the world. Situated on the "Piazza del Duomo", in the heart of the city, its construction started in 1386 and lasted for centuries. Both outside and inside, this fabulous landmark is extraordinary, with many statues, stained glasses and rich plasterwork which add to its historical and architectural value. The Duomo is considered by some experts as the most complex Gothic construction in the world. At its top, there is a terrace which offers a breathtaking view on the city, a must-see attraction at sunset.

Teatro alla Scala

La Scala is an unmissable opera house, one of the most famous in the world. Close to the Galleria Vitorrio Emanuele II, it has been the cradle of masterpieces such as Otello and Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi or even Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini. Even if you are not an opera lover, the theater hall justifies on its own the visit.

Sant'Ambrogio Basilica

The Sant'Ambrogio Basilica is one of the oldest churches in Milan. Admired for its Medieval architecture, this is one of the five basilicas created by Saint Ambroise. It was built between 379 and 386, it has a vast atrium surrounded by a beautiful gallery overlooked by five massive arches. Due to its history, its sacred dimension and its architecture, the Sant'Ambrogio Basilica is a reference location for any pilgrim as well as Milanese.
