Back From Shanghai, We Share Our insights On The Chinese Real Estate Market

In order to help our Members take advantage of all the best opportunities, we went to Shanghai and attended LPS 2013, Luxury Property Showcase. This event was not just a chance to meet Chinese high net worth individuals; it was also a fantastic experience that gave us a clear idea of what the luxury real estate market is about in China.

We now understand precisely what [Chinese buyers] three favourite destinations are. We also figured out the success factors to optimize your approach and sell to locals

As we exposed it to our readers in previous articles, Chinese investors are buying more and more properties abroad. Meeting local professionals of the luxury industry and talking to Chinese investors gave us some clues about what the Chinese are looking for. We already know the reasons why they are spending great money in real estate outside the country. One of them is the significant increase of the real estate prices in the Chinese market. In this article, discover the others factors that make Chinese investors consider foreign markets. We now understand precisely what their three favourite destinations are. We also figured out the success factors to optimize your approach and sell to the locals.

First of all, Chinese people number one destinations are Australia, Canada and England. We wondered why, and it turns out that their flexible immigration policies attract people from a lot of countries. In addition, as many Chinese already live there, people feel comfortable moving out of their home country and joining the local Chinese community. In some cases, they will be reunited with members of their family. A good example of this trend is visible in the city of Vancouver which hosts a large Chinese community and is also named Hongcouver (referring to Hong Kong). Besides, as the official language of these three countries is English, relocating is not too difficult to cope with. Lastly, more and more students move to these countries for the high quality of their universities.

The real key to succeed with the Chinese is the competence and the quality of service offered. In one word: professionalism. The Chinese appreciate it when they have nothing to care about, so offer them a turnkey service managing every sted of the transaction for A to Z.

Our trip to Shanghai also revealed that you can’t succeed in China working by yourself. You need to build yourslef a strong network composed of professionals that you can rely on. The Chinese call this the Guanxi, they give a strong value to relationships between professionals working together. As one of our Members, you can join us in our next business trip and build up your local network. We will offer you the opportunity to attend key business events in 2014. (If you are not a Member yet, you can reach us at contact@prestige-mls.com to receive more information).

To sum up our business trip, we learned a lot about the market, we met many companies that we look forward to collaborating with; and lastly, we even met luxury real estate professionals who might become Members very soon. We can’t wait to count them in our network.
