Tom Gunkelman is from the Western Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana campus, with a B.S. in Finance, majoring in Urban Land Economics (Real Estate). In addition, Gunkelman served in the US Army, 1970-1972.

Tom earned his Illinois State Real Estate License and began a career in real estate sales. A year later Gunkelman had completed the requirements for the Illinois Real Estate Broker License. Little did he realize that Illinois was to be the first of 4 states where he would earn a real estate Broker’s License. Tom would earn a Broker’s License in VA, NJ and FL as well. Having successfully managed several real estate offices for an international real estate firm in the 1970’s & 1980’s, he was transferred to Lee County, FL in 1997.

In a career spanning over 4 decades, Tom Gunkelman has managed 8 office locations in 4 different states. He is known as a supportive, knowledgeable leader with a long history of achieving high per person production. His focus has always been on a high level of customer service, effective marketing, education, in depth market knowledge and teamwork to achieve results.

Over the years Tom and his sales teams have earned local, regional, state and national recognition for outstanding sales performance. Included among these honors and awards are # 1 office in closed sales units (office size, National), most closed transactions per person (State), Management Consultant of the Year, Office Manager’s Award for Excellence, President’s Award and the Premier Office Award (10 consecutive years).

In addition, Gunkelman has served as a Director, Florida Association of Realtors, and taught the Illinois Real Estate Principles Course and Real Estate Law.

Today Tom has returned to his original role as a real estate sales associate, consulting with individual buyers, sellers, renters and investors. His philosophy with his clients and his sales associates has always been to provide the consumer with valuable property and market information and to assist the public in making the very best real estate decision for their personal situation.
